- Grace, mercy, and peace will be with us, from God the Father and from Jesus Christ the Father’s Son, in truth and love. 2 John 1:3 – Whether someone is a believer in Jesus or not they are searching for the same things. Peace in the chaos of life and grace and mercy when we’ve wronged. The difference is where we search to find those very important things. God is saying they are found in Him and come from Him. If that’s the case, why are we searching for them elsewhere? Or why have we continued to let those close to us search for what they need in places it can’t be found? Grace, mercy, and peace come from God. During this holiday season, how can you remind your family of this? No longer should they be searching for these things when you know where they can be found. - I rejoiced greatly to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as we were commanded by the Father. 2 John 1:4 – I agree, when we start to look out at the world of today, it’s so much easier to find people following the ways of the world over people following the ways of the Word. It’s gotten pretty scary how normal sin is to the world. From the top hit songs to the commercials on holiday movies, even just serving with our children’s and youth ministries you see what this world is chasing after. That all said, don’t forget to look at what God is doing while you’re gazing at all the enemy is doing. I love how John, while seeking to guide the church he was writing to back into a faithful pursuit of God, he acknowledges the ones who are still solid after Jesus. Know in the midst of this world there are so many faithful followers of Jesus doing amazing work for the kingdom. Gods work is not dead, nor has those who follow Him ended their following. When discouraged by how sin is active in a sinful world, gaze at those who are serving Jesus well in that same world, and rejoice. You are not alone in your serving of God. God’s work is alive and active, and our enemy may appear to have the upper hand but we all know how the story ends (and so does he). I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2588
